2012 DIVISIONS

BELOW IS A TENTATIVE LIST OF THE DIVISIONS WE WILL BE RUNNING IN 2012.  PLEASE NOTE THE DROPPING OF THE JR. SLINGSHOTS AND THE ADDITION OF 2 NEW DIVISIONS, THE ROOKIE 270 MICROS AND THE "SUPER SENIORS", WHICH WILL BASICALLY BE THE SAME AS THE SPORTSMEN DIVISION BUT WITHOUT CAGES AND WITH A MINIMUM AGE OF 35... COME ON OLD TIMERS, LET'S GET OUT THERE AND HAVE SOME FUN!

*ATTN. ROOKIE PURPLE TEAMS!:  This is a beginners division.  Because of the young age of the competitors, please understand that it is your responsibility to teach the driver the meaning of the flags and to go over the procedural rules with them.  Any driver in this division unable to run reasonably consistent laps or obey the flaggers commands/signals will not be allowed to compete until they are able to do so.  If the officials feel your driver is creating a safety issue, we will be forced to pull them off the track.  We will work with you to get your child as much seat time as possible, as we understand that this is the only way they will learn.  Please understand that this is for the safety of your child and the others in this division.  Drivers MUST be at least 5 years old, NO EXCEPTIONS!

2.1       A driver's age at the first event of the season determines which division they are eligible for.  Drivers beginning the year in a division may complete the season even if their age exceeds the class maximum after the first event.  Drivers NOT old enough to enter a division by May 1st MAY NOT begin running in that division until their actual age makes them eligible unless prior permission is granted by WVMP.  Anyone found racing first, requesting permission later will NOT be granted permission to continue in said division until they are the proper age.

2.2       Racers with a great deal of racing experience may request permission to enter a division up to 2 years early (except Youth Kart divisions).  Each case will be looked at on an individual basis and a decision will be made by the track.  That decision will be FINAL.  Most often requests of this nature will be DENIED.  Part of earning this privilege will hinge upon the drivers physical and mental abilities, past experience and results, and discussions with key track officials and/or other drivers.  An on track review may be required at the track's discretion.  Said permission MUST be requested BEFORE entering the first time.  If you are found to be racing at too young of an age without permission, you will be required to adhere to the age requirements set above permanently.
