SECTION 6 – TRACK POLICIES

6.1 NO GLASS BOTTLES!

6.2 ABSOLUTELY NO ILLEGAL DRUGS ALLOWED ON PREMISES! Anyone caught using or possessing illegal drugs will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

6.3 NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED ON PREMISES DURING RACING EVENTS! Anyone caught drinking will be asked to leave the premises immediately. Anyone caught possessing alcohol (unopened) will be asked to leave it at the ticket building for pickup when exiting the track. WVMP reserves the right to perform random cooler checks as it sees fit. Refusing check will be considered an admission of guilt.

6.4 WVMP officials reserve the right to request any competitor to undergo evaluation by the track EMT's via check of vital signs, pupils, or any other means they see fit in checking for the influence of drugs of alcohol. Competitor may also be asked to submit to an over the counter drug test provided by WVMP. Failing to cooperate will result in competitor being immediately ejected from the premises.

6.5 Anyone that becomes belligerent when asked to leave the premises will be removed by the Pennsylvania State Police. Said individual will be suspended from entering the premises and all WVMP functions for a period to be determined by WVMP management, but no less than one year. This penalty will be assessed once the call has been made, even if the individual complies and leaves the premises before the State Police arrive.

6.6 PLEASE! Help us keep the grounds looking respectable by throwing your trash into one of the many barrels provided.

6.7 No parking outside the track on the township road, those vehicles that do will be towed at the owner’s expense.

6.8 Anyone injured must notify a track official of their injuries right away. Some minor injuries can become more severe with time. If you leave the track without reporting an injury, it could potentially develop into a problem later. You must inform us of any injury WHEN IT HAPPENS to be covered under the track insurance!

6.9 Everyone in the pit area must have a wristband and must sign in. Sneaking into the pit area will not be tolerated. Anyone found in the pit area without a wristband will be directed to the grandstands. If that person is found in the pits without a wristband again, they will be asked to leave.

6.10 Teams may bring and use their own ATV for the purposes of pushing off their own car. Anyone willing to help push off other cars as well would be greatly appreciated. Careless operation of an ATV will result in the operator’s privileges being revoked on the FIRST OFFENSE! No ATV's allowed in the grandstand area unless operated by track personnel.

6.11 A race may be stopped at any time if the flagman or a track official considers it dangerous or unsafe to continue racing.

6.12 An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 16 for them to be admitted to the pit area. Anyone entering the pit area under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

6.13 Drivers may run in as many divisions as desired provided that:

6.13.A The car and driver meet all requirements for each division it competes in at that time.

6.13.B Any changes to the car/driver do not interfere with tech inspection or the tracks schedule of events. The track will not alter it’s schedule for such changes. We may, at our discretion and with prior request from the racer, give a racer 2 minutes to get out of one car and into another if they are competing in back to back divisions and using a different car.

6.13.C Drivers running the same kart in multiple divisions may wait to perform engine tech until the end of their final race of the day. The tech officials will make note of specific characteristics of the engine to be teched and will mark it to be sure it is the one that was raced in the earlier event.

6.14 All special events will be run under track rules. Any exceptions will be announced prior to the event.

6.15 Cars may be pushed or driven to the staging area, or from the scales. REMEMBER - THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE PITS! Anyone speeding or driving in a dangerous manner will be penalized at the discretion of WVMP officials. NO WARNINGS!!!

6.16 No one may enter the track surface AT ANY TIME during a race event, unless assistance is requested by a track official! NO repairs are allowed on the track surface. Crews/drivers will be allowed on the track during intermission to check on the track’s condition.

6.17 All track officials have the power and authority to disqualify or suspend the driver, car and any other person for violation of rules and other infractions falling under their jurisdiction. Anyone not acting within the speedway’s rules and regulations will be penalized at WVMP officials discretion and their decision will be final.

6.18 The scorer/announcers area is for WVMP personnel only! No one other than staff is permitted unless requested by a track official.

6.19 RAIN OUTS: On days of extremely questionable weather, it is our desire to cancel early before the racers make the trip to the track. If the weather looks like we can likely get the entire program in, we will make every effort to do so. Please keep in mind that we have to comply with the township imposed curfew. There may come a night where one or more divisions have to be rescheduled for a later date, running double features, due to the curfew. We apologize in advance if this happens, but it is beyond our control. In such cases, we may begin an hour early to make time for the added racing. Each situation will be dealt with as it develops.

6.19.A Events will be considered complete once the checkered flag has fallen in the final heat in the final division. Any division whose feature has not been run due to rainout or curfew will run double features on a future date.

6.19.B If all heats have not been completed, any division whose heats have been completed will run features only at the next event, with new cars falling in at the rear to complete field. If new cars exceed the full field of 16, the new cars only will run in a consi to determine which cars will fill out the field. All cars present on the original week will start the A-Main with the lineup determined by the original week's qualifying. Divisions that did not get ALL of their heats in will be scratched and will only be made up if it is a special event for that division. Entry fees will be honored at the next event only. Those unable to make the next event may request permission to use theirs on a different date at the track office. Pit passes for drivers whose division did not qualify, along with those on their crew THAT PUT THEIR CAR NUMBER UNDER DUTIES ON THE SIGN IN SHEET will be able to use their wristband for admission at the next event. If you did not put a car number next to your name on the waiver, the WILL be required to purchase another pit pass at the next event. FOR THOSE THAT RUN IN MULTIPLE CLASSES, ONCE YOU HAVE QUALIFIED IN ANY DIVISION, YOU HAVE USED YOUR ADMISSION FOR THAT EVENT AND WILL REQUIRE A NEW WRISTBAND AT THE NEXT EVENT!

6.19.C REFUNDS – Refunds will only be given in extreme circumstances and at the track director's discretion. Rule of thumb is, NO REFUNDS!

6.20 All rules are intended to be the official track rules. However, we reserve the right to amend and adjust any of the wording and interpretations as situations arise, either before or after the racing season begins. We have constructed these rules to the best of our ability to encourage safety, equality of competition, and fairness to all concerned. There is no expressed or implied warranty or guarantee of any of the above. Each year there are those who interpret these rules in their own manner and get into trouble. We wrote the rules, we know what they say and we know what they mean. It is your responsibility to build, buy and race legal equipment by our rules and to follow these rules while on the track and in the pit area. If you purchase used parts or cars, make sure you TRUST the person you buy from. If you take their word that it is a legal machine, then get penalized later because it is not legal, DO NOT BLAME THE TRACK! Do not be misled into using unsafe or illegal hardware. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. If you have a question regarding a rule, please ask.

6.21 Penalties regarding behavioral issues will be given on a case to case basis depending on the nature and severity of the infraction, the violators past history of behavior, the circumstances that brought about their actions, and any provoking actions of others. Past precedence set in the past for similar actions will also be considered when penalties are set. Penalties may be in the form of fines (monetary or points), disqualification, suspension, or in any other way deemed effective and appropriate.

6.22 You will be treated with respect as long as you return that courtesy. If you act immaturely, like a kid throwing a tantrum, you should expect to be treated like one. Disagreements can be discussed rationally, and while you may not get an answer or result you agree with, you will be allowed to express your thoughts provided you do so in a respectable manner. OUR OFFICIALS DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE ANYONE'S ABUSE!!! THEY HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO END ANY CONVERSATION WITH AN ABUSIVE PERSON AND DIRECT THEM TO THE TRACK DIRECTOR, WHO WILL RESPECTFULLY SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM FOR YOU... ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

6.23 All race vehicles are subject to inspection at any time. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BUILD AND MAINTAIN A SAFE RACE VEHICLE! Safety Tech is to check your vehicle for obvious safety issues. This inspection is to try to make sure you are “safe”, not “legal”. You, the competitor, are responsible for building and maintaining your car according to legal specifications. Meeting the track’s safety requirements and passing the track’s safety inspection IN NO WAY guarantees that injuries cannot occur. Racing can be a dangerous sport, and can result in injury/death. By entering and competing in any track event, the competitor assumes ALL risk associated with the construction, maintainence, and operation of their racing vehicle with no liability expressed or implied by the speedway or it’s employees.

6.24 INTENTIONALLY CHEATING TO GAIN AN ADVANTAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!! If there is something you are unclear on in the rules, ASK FIRST! If you are caught with something questionable later, and it is deemed to be outside what the track intended, you WILL be DQ’d! If it is something completely untouched on by the rules, we will make a decision on whether it will be allowed. The driver in question will not be penalized, but will be required to remove questionable part if it is deemed illegal. Once a decision is made, the rule will be amended to the rulebook on the website and announced to the competitors to promote a level playing field.

6.25 TECH RULES THAT ARE NOT A PERFORMANCE ADVANTAGE ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TECH INSPECTOR AS TO WHETHER A WARNING WILL BE GIVEN OR A PENALTY WILL BE ASSESSED (For example, if a driver has no snap ring on the end of his rear axle, the tech inspector may point it out and warn the driver rather than disqualify him). THIS DECISION WILL BE FINAL AND NON-NEGOTIABLE! Should such an incident arise, identical infractions will be handled the same way the rest of the season. A log book will be kept listing each warning, to be signed by the driver and tech inspector. THERE WILL BE NO SECOND WARNINGS! SECOND TIME YOU WILL BE DQ'd!
