SECTION 8 - HANDICAPPING, POINTS SYSTEM

8.1 8 cars maximum to start heat events.

8.2 16 cars maximum to start main events. In the event that more than 16 cars are entered in a division, cars will qualify as follows:

3 Heats– top 4 qualify, rest start heads up in B-Main with 4 to transfer to rear of A-Main

4 Heats– top 3 qualify. If less than 16 cars failed to qualify, the rest will start heads up in B-Main with 4 to transfer to rear of A-Main. If more than 16 failed to qualify, the non-qualified cars will be split into an even number, with the top half of the qualifiers filling the starting field of the B- Main, the rest starting heads up in the C-Main. The top 2 finishers from the C-Main will transfer to the tail of the B-Main.

More Heats – Addition mains would be added (D-Main, Etc.) as necessary if car counts in multiples of 16 required it.

8.3 All drivers must throw out their worst finish in the points. If a driver misses a week, it may be used as their throwaway week. A DISQUALIFICATION FOR ANY REASON MAY NOT BE USED AS A DRIVER'S THROWAWAY WEEK! Once 2 weeks have been completed, each driver's worst finish is automatically deducted, meaning that the posted points after week 2 would be official as if the season were to end at that point.

8.4 All cars MUST run in the heat they are assigned. If a car is not ready for their heat, they MAY NOT fall in at the rear of another heat. They will have to start scratch in the feature (if there is not a full field), or at the rear of the B-Main in there is a full field.

8.5 POINTS: Points will be awarded as follows:

8.5.A NO POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR HEAT FINISHES.

8.5.C All cars will have bonus points added to their total from above added each week (For example, if there were 15 cars entered in the division this week, and a driver finished 3rdto earn 50 points, the total they would be credited with this week would be 65)

8.5.D Any driver entering and taking the green in a heat race, thus attempting to qualify, will earn at least the entry bonus points. If a driver breaks in practice and DOES NOT take the green in a heat, feature, or consi, they will earn NO points.

8.6 Registering Car Numbers: Numbers for the 2010 season may be reserved as of 12/1/09. Drivers that earned points in 2009 have first option to retain their number up to 1/10/10. After that date, any unregistered numbers are fair game. Once a number has been run and earned points, that driver will retain that number for the year.

8.6.A Duplicate Numbers: In the event that someone enters a car with a number that has already been registered, the driver entering later MUST change theirs or add a letter using tape, or any method so as to make it identifiable for the scorers. This MUST be done on BOTH sides of the car.

8.7 NUMBER MARKINGS:

8.7.A Karts - Must have numbers on both sides (minimum 6” tall, 1” thick, not including any outlines or shadows) and front (minimum 4” tall, .1/2” thick not including any outlines or shadows).

8.7.B Slingshots - Must have numbers on both sides (minimum 12” tall, 1 1/2” thick, not including any outlines or shadows) and front (minimum 4” tall, 1/2” thick, not including any outlines or shadows).

8.7.C Micros - Must have numbers on both sides of wing (minimum 12” tall, 2” thick, not including any outlines or shadows), both sides of tail (minimum 8” tall, 1 1/4” thick, not including any outlines or shadows), and front (minimum 6” tall, 1” thick, not including any outlines or shadows).

8.7.D All cars should be lettered in a manner such as to be easily legible and in a color that contrasts so that it can be read easily by the scorers. Any letters must be at least ½ the height of the number. The scorers have the right to request that any cars with numbers that are difficult to read be changed. Competitor will have 1 week to comply with requested change.

8.8 HANDICAPPING:

8.8.A FIRST 2 EVENTS OF THE SEASON AND NON-POINT EVENTS:

8.8.A.1 All drivers will pull a “pill” when they pay their entry fee.

HEATS: The heat starting order will be determined with the lowest draw on the pole of heat one, the next draw on the pole in heat 2, the next 2ndin heat one, etc.

FEATURES: The winner of the first heat in each division will pull a pill when that driver reaches the scales. The numbers in the can will be 3 times (in other words, top 3 finishers in each heat) the number of heats (3 x 2 heats = 6 pills). The field will be set by taking the heads up start and inverting top drivers according to the invert pill (if 4 were drawn, the top 4 would be inverted for the feature lineup). In the event of more than 3 heats, only the top TWO drivers would be handicapped.

8.8.B POINTS RACES AFTER THE FIRST 2 EVENTS OF THE SEASON:

HEATS: Each driver's total points earned in the last 3 weeks (2 for the first week of handicapping) will determine the starting order for the heats, least amount of points earned in the front, most points at the rear. The top three finishers will be handicapped for the A- Main, with the rest of the field lined up in heads up fashion.

FEATURES: The winner of the first heat in each division will pull a pill when that driver reaches the scales. The numbers in the can will be 3 time the number of heats (3 x 2 heats = 6 pills). The field will be set by lining up the top 3 finishers in each heat by their handicap points (again, least up front), and inverting top drivers according to the invert pill (if 4 were drawn, the top 4 would be inverted for the feature lineup). The remainder of the field will be lined up in heads up fashion based on heat finish.

8.8.C For any week in the previous 3 that a driver was not present, they will be credited with the winner's points for that week. Ties in the points earned in the last 3 weeks will be broken by point earned last week (least points goes in front). In the event of new cars (who, with 3 wins would have the most points and would start at the rear of their heat), the tie would be broken by which driver signed in first. This system rewards drivers that support WVMP on a regular basis by not automatically putting new cars up front, but still allows a new car to only have to work their way to 3rdin a heat to start in the top half of the field, and at that point, they still have a chance to start on the pole depending on the invert pill drawn.

8.8.D DRAW REPRESENTATIVES – For any pill draw, a driver may have a representative of their choosing draw for them.
