2011 RULE BOOK
SECTION 9 – PENALTIES & PROTESTS
9.1 PENALTIES:
Disqualification: Loss of all points and awards for that days event.
Suspension: Violator will not be allowed to compete during the suspension. In some cases, at the discretion of the officials, a person may not be allowed on the premises during the suspension.
Fines:
Monetary: Penalty assessed to an individual for unsportsmanlike conduct. Anyone ordered to pay a fine and refusing to do so will not be permitted to attend future WVMP events until fine is paid. If it is a car owner or crew/family member, their driver will not be allowed to compete again until fine is paid. ALL FINES MUST BE PAID IN CASH! Fine money will go into the point fund for that competitor's division.
Points: Points may be taken away in the form of a fine as opposed to a monetary fine if the officials see fit. The number of points would be dependent upon the infraction and circumstances.
Failure to report to scales (top 5 finishers only): Penalized to last place in that race. In such an event that more than one driver is penalized, they will both go to the rear in the order they finished.
Failure to make weight (NO TOLERANCE!): Penalized to last place in that race. In such an event that more than one driver is penalized, they will both go to the rear in the order they finished.
Loss of a weight during a race: Sent off the track immediately if officials saw conclusively which car lost it. Penalized to the rear whether sent off track or not (we can tell after race which car lost the weight by their number on it).
Acts of Violence (Punching, kicking, shoving, or otherwise assaulting another individual anywhere on the premises): Immediate disqualification and suspension for a minimum of one event. Exact penalty at the discretion of track officials.
Failure to allow tech on any component of one's machine at any time: Immediate disqualification, unable to return to competition until same tech has been performed.
Failure to pass tech: Immediate disqualification unless other penalty is listed in the WVMP rule book. All rule interpretations made by the WVMP officials will be final. In extenuating circumstances, WVMP officials reserve the right to amend or clarify the rules with no penalty being assessed.
ALL OTHER INFRACTIONS OR BEHAVIORAL ISSUES WILL BE HANDLED ON A CASE TO CASE BASIS DEPENDING UPON CIRCUMSTANCES, PAST HISTORY OF THE PARTIES INVOLVED, PAST PRECEDENCE SET BY PAST PENALTIES IN SIMILAR INSTANCES. Some of these issues may include:
1. Fighting/Striking another individual
2. Maliciously damaging another's property
3. Excessive profanity
4. Obscene gestures/Taunting others
5. Speeding/Wreckless operation of ANY vehicle in the pit or parking areas
6. Refusing to follow the order of any WVMP official
7. Any action not mentioned that WVMP officials deemed detrimental to racing at our facility.
THESE PENALTIES MAY BE IMPOSED IN THE FORM OF FINES, LOSS OF POINTS, SUSPENSIONS, OR DISQUALIFICATION. PENALTIES IMPOSED BY WVMP TRACK OFFICIALS ARE FINAL AND NON-NEGOTIABLE! PENALTIES MAY BE ASSESSED IMMEDIATELY OR AFTER THE FACT, DEPENDING ON WHETHER THE OFFICIALS FIND IT NECESSARY TO REVIEW VIDEO, PHOTOS, OR INTERVIEW WITNESSES TO GATHER INFORMATION. WVMP OFFICIALS WILL ATTEMPT TO GIVE EVERY DRIVER THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT, BUT HABITUAL “PROBLEM INDIVIDUALS” WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. BE FOREWARNED, WHEN DEALING WITH THESE SITUATIONS, YOUR ATTITUDE AND LEVEL OF RESPECT AND CONDUCT WILL HAVE AN INFLUENCE! POOR SPORTSMANSHIP WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND PENALTIES WILL BE HARSH! THIS INCLUDES EXCESSIVE PROFANITY AND VERBAL ABUSE!
9.2 PROTESTS:
9.2.A Engine Tech Protests: Protest fee is $200 and must be paid in cash. Protest must be submitted to the weigh master BEFORE EITHER DRIVER LEAVES THE SCALES and/or TECH AREA! Only a driver or
car owner may protest the engine of another for a complete tear down. Driver must be in the same division. A driver may only protest one engine per night, 2 engines per season. Protesting driver must also submit their engine for tear down. If the protested driver's engine is legal, they take the protest fee. If their engine is illegal, the protesting driver gets the protest fee returned to them. If either engine is illegal, that driver will be disqualified.
9.2.B Protests on non-engine related items will not be accepted.
