2010 RULE BOOK
SECTION 11 - 2010 RULE AMENDMENTS (6)
CHANGES POSTED IN RED PRINT
1. CLONE CAM RULE AMENDMENT (Released 3/14/10):Following the release of a revised clone engine cam rule by the AKRA, WVMP's cam rule has been revised to remain uniform in rules with the AKRA. New cam rule should read as follows:
Camshaft Requirements: Stock as cast camshaft only. Cam lobe base circle diameter .865" -.005”/+.010”
Duration check for Intake and Exhaust lobes (taken off pushrod). Intake duration of 218.5 degrees at .050 lift/85.5 degrees at .200 lift. Exhaust duration of 221.5 degrees at .050 lift/96.5 degrees at .200 lift. (All checks will allow +2 degrees for wear and gauge variances.)
Max Intake lift on cam .225” taken at the pushrod.
Max Intake lift at the valve .238” Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash.
******************************************
Max Exhaust lift on cam .232” taken at the pushrod.
Max Exhaust Lift at the valve .242” Taken on valve spring retainer with zero lash.
Special note. Valve guide wear can give false valve lift readings when checking off the front of the valve spring retainer. It is advised to take readings at several other points around the retainer (back, and both sides) if wear is suspected of giving a false, unfavorable reading.
The CL-1 & CL-1M cams may be used IF THEY MEET THE ABOVE SPECS WHEN INSTALLED IN YOUR ENGINE!!! The best way to make sure your engine is legal is to take it out of the box and LEAVE IT ALONE. If you choose to change the cam just to gain .005" of lift, help yourself. If it doesn't pass tech when installed in your particular engine (due to tolerance variations in the engines), DON'T COMPLAIN TO US.
Cam and crank gear cannot be altered or moved to change timing.
7.28 SCALING: The top 5 in EVERY race, in EVERY division, must go directly to the scales, EVERY TIME! ANYONE FAILING TO DO SO WILL BE CREDITED WITH LAST PLACE, JUST AS IF THEY CAME UP LIGHT! Drivers may roll slowly onto the scales. Must come to a complete stop and hold still until the “STABLE” light on the scales is lit. Driver must remain on the scales until released by the weighmaster. Driver may then drive off the scales SLOWLY! There will be NO tolerance on weight. Parts knocked off during the race will be considered. If a vehicle comes up light, it may be re-weighed 2 more times. If the competitor fails to make weight, they will be pushed off and re-weighed two more times. If they do not make weight at least once in those three tries, they will be credited with LAST PLACE in that event.
8.1 8 cars maximum will be scheduled to start heat events at the time of the sign-in deadline. Any late entries will be added to the end of the already set heat lineups, split evenly among the number of heats.
9.2.A Claims: No racer may claim another's engine. Only engines in the clone divisions may be claimed - see clone engine rules section.
10.3.C.22 Clone Claimer Rule: Any clone race may claim any other racer's engine IN THE SAME DIVISION. A driver may only claim ONE engine per night. A racer may NOT claim the same driver's engine more than once per season. The claimer fee is $175. The claimed engine WILL be torn down and inspected for legality. $150 will go to the owner of the claimed engine. $25 will go to the track for the time in doing so. Whether the engine is legal or not, the CLAIMER OWNS IT AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO HIM IN A DISASSEMBLED STATE THE $150 WILL GO TO THE CLAIMEE, legal or not! If the engine is illegal, the claimee will be disqualified and will lose all points and awards for that date's events. That driver will also be fined 50 points in the standings. Refusal to comply with a claim will result in loss of all points accumulated to that date and permanent suspension from any clone division. Claim only includes the long block. Items NOT included are header, air filter adapter, chain guard, clutch, top plate, throttle linkage, fuel pump, motor mount, starter nut if equipped for electric starter. Engines may be claimed at any time after the first heat of the night. Owner will be informed of the claim when exitting the track after the feature event. Once a claim has been placed, it is NOT reversible.
10.3.C.26 Gear Rule: Clone & Sportsman Divisions (SK, SW, SM) must run a 14 tooth clutch, 61 tooth or smaller axle gear. This may be adjusted as needed after monitoring the RPM's turned. Any change to the gear rule will be announced one week before becoming effective.
